Twitch created playful categories like April Fool’s Day. A streamer then decided to stay live for an hour, simply reading without ever saying a word. 2,400 people have decided to follow it. Other categories also include Pizza Time, Character Creation, Weird Jobs, Household Chores, Literally Chat Only.
Merry Kish ran a one-hour stream on Twitch for the “Read Only” category, during which time he did almost nothing but read. The only time she drew attention away from the books was when she got an alert notification, but even then she never spoke. The chat was in emote-only mode, but otherwise works flawlessly. However, 2,400 people spent time simply looking at the girl.
As for the other categories, few people actually exploit them in the right way. There is no big turnout in this Twitch April Fool. Girl_dm, Vtuber, was the only one – as far as it turns out – to have used the Literally Chat Only category correctly. The idea would be to do nothing and have the chat users talk to each other, like in an IRC chat room. Many, on the other hand, have used it as the normal Just Chatting, that is, they have talked to the users.
Otherwise, some streamers are using categories to gain a few extra viewers, without respecting the “rules”. One streamer, for example, used the “Household Chores” section while playing New World.
We also report that Twitch is closing the desktop application to focus on creators.
