Turkey has again called on Russia for a ceasefire in the war against Ukraine.
Ankara/Moscow – Turkey has once again called on Russia to agree to a ceasefire in the war against Ukraine. This is important in order to avoid further fatalities, said the Defense Ministry in Ankara on Tuesday after a phone call from department head Hulusi Akar to his Russian colleague Sergei Shoigu. Akar therefore welcomed the efforts to create an escape corridor for civilians. The conversation was also about Turkish merchant ships that were stuck in Russian ports due to the war.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the ministers also discussed bilateral issues in addition to the situation in Ukraine. Details were not given.
This Thursday (March 10) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Ukrainian colleague Dmytro Kuleba want to meet in Turkey for talks. (dpa)
