During his visit in Colombia, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlumet with the vice president and chancellor, Marta Lucía Ramírez, to discuss the bilateral agenda and to sign two cooperation instruments in aspects of education, culture and sport.

In this way, both diplomats highlighted the importance of the relationship between the two countriesand mutual projects in entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.
The Turkish dignitary stated that Colombia is the best partner of its country in Latin Americasince bilateral trade reached 2,000 million dollars in 2021. However, its objective is for this figure to reach $5 billion.
“We are going to have a meeting in this common business framework. And in this framework we want to promote investments,” said Çavuşoğlu.
Investments between Turkey and Colombia
In her turn, Foreign Minister Ramírez highlighted the meeting held between Colombian businessmen and Turkish investors, in order to show the country’s potential as a destination for foreign investment.
“We want to invite Turkish investment in Colombia, we want to invite this business development between Turkish companies and Colombian companies, so that in this way they can Turkish products, hand in hand with Colombian production, reach all the markets of the Americas“said the vice president.
In the same way, the Turkish foreign minister pointed out that his government is working to strengthen mutual investments and, furthermore, businessmen from his country would be interested in betting on Colombia, which they consider “a special partner”.
According to the Colombian Foreign Ministry, Turkish companies would be interested, mainly, in invest in “efficiency, infrastructure, tourism and transportation projects”Therefore, mobility companies are the ones with the most specific investment actions in the country.
‘Peace in the world
The diplomats also referred to the current situation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, to which Ramírez recognized Turkey’s leadership to advance the peace talks between both countries.
“We want to recognize that very important leadership with which they want at this time to contribute to world peace and to stop this Russian war against Ukraine, to stop the death of civilians because the world needs peace“said the chancellor.

Both Ramírez and Çavuşoğlu expressed their interest in continuing to support each other in health mattersespecially in the development of vaccines against covid-19, so that they can be accessed by all people, especially the most vulnerable.
The Turkish minister will meet in the morning with President Iván Duque, who will receive him at the Casa de Nariño. The foreign minister’s tour, which began on April 23, also includes Ecuador, Panama, Brazil and Uruguay.
