Turkish media reported that the Greek coast guard opened fire on a cargo ship in international waters in the Aegean Sea, on Saturday.
The Turkish TV channel TRT quoted the Turkish Coast Guard as saying that the ship, which bears the name (Anatolian) and is flying the flag of Comoros, came under fire from the Greek Coast Guard on Saturday afternoon, 11 nautical miles from the Turkish island of Bozcaada.
The Turkish side was quoted as saying that the Greek boats “ignored international laws.”
The report added that the boats left when the Turkish Coast Guard arrived at the site, and there were no casualties.
The TRT channel broadcast footage that it said was of the ship during the shooting incident.
The Turkish coast guard escorted the ship, and local prosecutors opened an investigation into the incident, the Turkish Anadolu news agency reported.
The ship was carrying a crew of 18, including Turks, Somalis and Azerbaijanis.
