The Tunisian, who is ranked first in the tournament, hopes to reach her fourth final this year, achieve her second title and prepare in the best way for Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam, after a disappointing exit from Roland Garros.
Jaber maintained her perfect record against Sasnovic, the 38th in the world, in three matches, knowing that in the first two matches she also lost the first set before winning the match.
Jaber lost the first set in a strange way, after wasting a 5-2 lead, and her opponent won four games in a row and resorted to the tie-breaker, which the Belarusian decided in her favour. However, the Tunisian rose up in the last two sets and decided the confrontation after one hour and 56 minutes.
After the win, she said: “I’ll claim 6-2 6-2. I had chances to decide things in the first set but she started taking long shots. I was so angry and tried to capitalize on that anger later.”
Jaber Ghamar will compete in the Eastbourne tournament, before Wimbledon, alongside Serena Williams in the doubles competition.
And she said Thursday that she feels “she’s over the moon” after the American veteran announced her desire to play alongside her, “I’m really lucky that she chose me. I’m dying to play alongside her. With this legend.”
Jaber will meet in the semi-finals with Gave, ranked 13th in the world and runner-up Roland Garros, who eliminated the Czech seventh Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 6-4.
“I’m very happy with the way I played today,” Gauff, 18, said after her win. “I’ve already lost against her and played her on the grass and her strong serve, it was a very tough match.”
It will be the fourth time that the two players meet, and the preference for the American will be three wins against one for the Tunisian.
Jaber said of the match: “Coco plays well and serves well, so serving back will be difficult for me, especially on the grass. I call her the octopus because she is everywhere, she is a strong fighter and an example for young players.”
After being crowned in the Madrid tournament and runner-up to the Polish first-ranked Iga Švientek in Rome, both of which are in the thousand rounds, Jaber was a candidate to compete strongly in Roland Garros before suddenly exiting in the first round.
Jaber, who also lost this year to the Charleston final, won the first title of her career in Birmingham on grass courts last year, before reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
In the other semi-finals, the Greek Maria Skari, sixth in the world, will meet with the seventeenth Swiss Belinda Bencic, after beating the Russians Daria Kasatkina (12) 6-0, 6-3 and Veronika Kodermetova (24) 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 respectively.
