The authority said that Saeed won 90.7% of the voters’ votes, which reflects the extent of his supporters’ participation in the elections yesterday.
Kais Saied competed (66 years old) with the former MP Zuhair Al-Maghzawi (59 years old), and Al-Ayachi Zamal, a 47-year-old businessman and engineer.
Saeed’s main competitor, businessman Al-Ayachi Al-Zamal, received 7.4% of the votes after remaining in prison for most of the election campaign, where he faces several prison sentences on charges of committing election-related crimes.
The number of registered voters reached 9.7 million, and they chose their president for the next five years, according to the Election Commission.
Saied, who was elected with nearly 73 percent of the vote (and 58 percent of the turnout) in 2019, enjoys great popularity among Tunisians.
