Lawyer Samir Ben Omar said that the military judiciary had ordered their arrest on charges of “conspiring against state security and insulting the army”, after broadcasting a program on “Al-Zaytouna” TV channel.
Abdel-Latif Al-Alawi is a member of parliament from the Karama coalition loyal to the Brotherhood’s Ennahda movement, and Amer Ayyad is a broadcaster on Al-Zaytouna TV, which is close to the movement itself.
During the program, Alaoui and Ayyad criticized the Tunisian president, calling him a “traitor”.
Saeed suspended the parliament, lifted the immunity of its members, and dismissed the government in July, before Najla Boden appointed a new prime minister recently.
Many Tunisians welcomed the president’s intervention, after years of economic stagnation and political paralysis caused by Ennahda.
