“There research, science, technologies, therapies, physiotherapies and rehabilitation” are important. “But equally important is being able to support a support network that, starting from the treatment, takes the family into account and accompanies the treatment process. It is a theme that, for the next few months, for the next few times, will also keep us busy thinking about people's real life plans, but above all to dismantle those rigidities between the health, socio-health and social systems towards those who then there are human life, children, young people, people and their families. I am convinced that together we can always do more.” Thus Alessandra Locatelli, Minister for Disability, speaking remotely this morning in Montecitorio at the conference 'National rare tumor network: critical issues and prospects for pediatric oncohematology' organized by Fiagop (Italian Federation of pediatric oncohematology parents and recovered associations), in which Aieop (Italian Association of pediatric hematology and oncology) also participated, on the occasion of the GWorld Pediatric Cancer Day which is celebrated today 15 February.
Addressing the associations, Locatelli said: “We live in a context, in a particular and strategic moment where, together, we can really do a lot, especially in taking care of the person and therefore of the child, both healthcare and social. We can imagine how fundamental it is for each person, in the dignity of their life, to be able to take care of themselves, to be able to feel good, but also to be able to choose what type of activity they can carry out during the day, during recreational and sporting time, the possibility of having affection and friendships. And so let's imagine for a child how fundamental and precious these aspects are and equally important in supporting care and therapies.”
“The third sector – concluded the minister – is made up of many people who every day, through a complex and specialized network, very well trained, can offer children and young people opportunities to deal, even psychologically, with treatment and rehabilitation therapy for pediatric cancers and tumors. I am convinced that together we can do something more.”
