No Red Bull in 2025
The news of the contract renewal of Sergio Perez with Red Bull for the next two years he has effectively closed the doors in the face of all potential candidates for the role of Max Verstappen’s teammate from 2025. Among these, the one who seemed in pole position for the post-Perez era was the Japanese Yuki Tsunodawhich now also appears close to another renewal: in this case, the signature could come with the Racing Bullsjunior team from the Milton Keynes company with which the 24-year-old made his F1 debut in 2021.
More effort from Milton Keynes
Consequently, the most probable line-up for 2025 in Racing Bulls could still be made up of Ricciardo and Tsunoda, with the latter however wanting more guarantees from Red Bull before signing the next contract: above all, that of being able to have the possibility of making a real leap in quality by joining the reigning world champion team. All this because, as explained by the Japanese to the media on the eve of the Canadian GP, nothing is guaranteed with Perez, despite the renewal: “I would like to see more commitment from them in the contract – he has declared – obviously I’ve already put a lot of effort into Red Bull and I hope to see more effort from them. There is an ongoing discussion and I want to make sure first of all that we are on the same page with Red Bull, then we will see. But I’m happy with the RB. In these two years Perez has yet to give his best, and in this type of environment anything can happen. So, congratulations to him and everything else. As for me, I continue to focus on what I’m doing and proving my worth. I just have to grow again and, at the same time, I hope Red Bull understands or sees my progress more and my potential in terms of performance, and maybe it can change in the future.”
Not just Red Bull
Tsunoda’s priority however remains to continue within the Red Bull family, and to continue happily with Racing Bulls, even if the Japanese said he was proud of the offers received from other teams: “The positive thing is that the other teams are starting to take an interest in me – he revealed – I also got a couple of options from the others, and it’s a good thing that I get to grow my value too, especially in this interesting driver market. But the My priority is Red Bull. I want to make sure we are on the same page because Red Bull is part of my life so far, and without them I wouldn’t have achieved these results.”
