Federal deputy is accused of propagating false information about the current president to favor Lula
O TSE (Superior Electoral Court) gave this Monday (17.Oct.2022) a deadline of 3 days for the deputy André Janones (Avante-MG) to express its opinion on possible false information it published about the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on their social networks.
Minister Benedito Gonçalves’ decision considers that “provocations, debauchery and also serious accusations permeate several of his posts [de Janones] directed against the candidate for reelection, Jair Bolsonaro, and people around him”. Here’s the intact (215 KB).
O process was filed by Bolsonaro’s campaign and asks for the congressman’s social media to be suspended until the end of the 2nd round of elections, on October 30th.
The PT candidate for the presidency, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaand the vice on his plate, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), were also cited in the process.
According to Bolsonaro’s campaign, the 2 candidates are the most benefited from Janones’ publications and, therefore, should have their political rights revoked, as well as the deputy.
Minister Benedito Gonçalves determined that the investigated must present their defenses within 5 days.
Since withdrew from running for the PlateauJanones began publicly supporting Lula’s candidacy and campaigning against Bolsonaro on social media.
O Power 360 contacted the deputy’s advice in search of a position on the decision of the Electoral Justice, but received no response until the publication of this report. The space remains open for demonstration.
