On February 27, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, ordered to activate “the special combat mode”, which is his nuclear arsenal, as a measure of pressure in the war he started against Ukraine.
According to the Federation of American Scientists, Russia has 5,977 nuclear warheads (weapons), among them one of the most feared: the Tsar Bombone of the most powerful in the world.
Test of the Tsar Bomb
According to the British chain ‘BBC’, the Tsar Bomb or also known as the Emperor bomb, RDS-2200 or RDS-202, it is the most powerful energy device ever used. This weapon is a hydrogen fission weapon that was tested on October 30, 1961 during the Cold War.
The weapon was tested in the remote archipelago of Noyaya Zemlya, in the Arctic circle.
Its explosion could be felt more than 1,000 kilometers away, reaching 64 kilometers in height and 100 kilometers in diameter from end to end.
All buildings within a 55 km radius of the blast site were completely destroyed. Scientists found that the generated shock wave circled the planet three times.
It is believed that it could have a destructive power 3,300 times greater than the Hiroshima bomb. and has the force of 50 million tons of conventional explosives.

This hydrogen bomb had a power of 50 megatons, was 8 meters long and weighed 27 tons.
In addition, Russia is currently thought to be experimenting with a new 100-megaton Tsar Bomb, which would have greater destructive power.
History of the Czar Bomb
In the early 1960s, the relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States was quite tense. Both countries they were in the middle of the cold war and they fought for geopolitical, ideological, and military dominance.
At that time, the United States had already tested the first hydrogen bomb which they called ‘Mike’ in 1952. Two years later, in 1954, it carried out another test of its largest nuclear weapon: ‘Castle Bravo’. Meanwhile, the Soviet Union was working on its weapons.
The Soviet leader at the time, Nikita Khrushchev, wanted to show off the country’s military might and ordered the creation of the most powerful bomb ever made.

How does the pump work?
According to the web portal ‘The voice of America’, this hydrogen bomb, also known as a thermonuclear weapon, is a more advanced and powerful version of an atomic bomb.
Atomic bombs use uranium or plutonium which detonate by the fission of these elements. In a nucleus, atoms split and release large amounts of energy, that is, an explosion.
In contrast, in hydrogen bombs, energy is released through fission and secondary fission, which makes this class of weapons more powerful.

What would your explosion look like?
According to the portal ‘Nuclear Secrecy’, if a 100-megaton bomb fell in the center of Madrid there would be 3.9 million deaths and injuries, and about 1.1 million people affected. The explosion would reach Germany.
The bomb would leave the city reduced to ashes and the fireball would affect more than 30 km, killing 70% of the population instantly. However, thermal radiation could still be felt 75 km away.
Then 50-90% of the population surviving the heat would die a painful death from radiation poisoning. People could lose their hair, they would have nausea and fatigue, and the body’s white blood cells would die.
On the other hand, radiation would remain in the environment for decades, creating acid rain that would affect crops.
In addition, people could develop hypothyroidism and cancer in the future.
