Three days after being sworn in, the US president made his first major international appearance
Three days after being sworn in as US president, Donald Trump celebrated his first major international appearance at the main global economic conclave of the year, the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump, who participated remotely from the … White House, did not try to please the political, financial and business leaders gathered there. “My message to all companies in the world is very simple,” the US president said in his speech. «You can come to the US to manufacture your products and we will give you some of the lowest taxes of any country in the world. But if you don’t, which is your prerogative, you will have to pay a tariff, of varying amounts, but a tariff that will get hundreds of billions of dollars into our Treasury to strengthen our economy and pay off our debt.”
It was a combative intervention by Trump, with many of the messages and promises that featured in his campaign rallies, in which he defended, as at his inauguration, that the “golden era of the United States has begun.”
“With the Trump Administration, there will be no better place on the planet to create jobs, build industries or grow a company than here in the good old USA,” he defended. “USA. “It’s open for business.”
