The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, appointed this Friday Karoline Leavitt as White House secretary, after she served as spokesperson for the Republican campaign and the Government transition team.
«(Karoline) Leavitt did a phenomenal job as national press secretary in my historic campaign, and I am pleased to announce that she will be the White House press secretary», said the Republican in a statement.
The next tenant of the White House has highlighted that Leavitt is “intelligent, tough and has proven to be a very effective communicator.” “I have the utmost confidence that he will stand out on the podium and help us convey our message to the American people to make America great again,” he emphasized.
Trump stalwart
Leavitt served as a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign during this election cycle and for the transition team, in addition to working as deputy press secretary during the mogul’s first term.
A native of New Hampshire, He tried unsuccessfully to obtain a seat in the House of Representatives of the United States in his home state in 2022. After that campaign, he joined Trump’s press team for his third presidential bid.
The role of press secretary is fundamental in the US administration and is one of the most visible faces of the Government. Trump went through four press secretaries during his last time in the White House: Sean Spicer, who resigned six months after taking office; Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who held the position the longest, about two years; Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany.
The communicator, 27 yearsdefined Trump’s victory in the elections as “the greatest political comeback in history.”
“He defeated the great technological oligarchs who tried to silence him, the justice system armed against him and the fake news that have lied about him and his supporters for years,” he stated then on his X social network account.
