After being banned from the most important social spheres of the virtual industry by the seizure of the Capitol in January, the former US president announced the launch of ‘TRUTH Social’, his own social network to combat large technology companies. In November the beta version will be released and in February it will be available to the public.
This Wednesday, October 21, former President Donald Trump reappeared to resume his fight against large technology companies by announcing the launch of ‘TRUTH Social’, a new social network that will be the first product of his company Trump Media Technology Group (TMTG).
In a statement, Donald Trump affirmed that the objective is “to create a rival to the progressive media consortium and to combat the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley,” whom he accuses of having used their power “unilaterally to silence the voices opponents ”.
The first step will be to create a social cybernetic space after the most popular of today (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram) silenced and / or expelled him after inciting his followers with the idea of an alleged electoral fraud, a call that It ended on January 6 with the taking of the Capitol.
“We live in a world where the Taliban have a large Twitter presence, but their favorite American president has been silenced. This is unacceptable, ”he attacked. He also said he was “excited” to send his first “truth.”
“TMTG was founded with the mission of giving everyone a voice,” he summarized.
The ‘TRUTH Social’ platform already appears in the Apple App Store, but its use will not be available until February 2022, but there will be a trial version starting next November.
In his announcement, Trump also announced the intention to launch a platform with entertainment content ‘on demand’ that contains “programs, news, podcast and more.” ‘TMTG +’ will be the name of this subscription service.
TMTG, whose market value is 875 million, will merge with Digital World Acquisition Corp, a blank check company, to become a publicly traded company, reaching a value of 1.7 billion dollars depending on performance .
Since his forced withdrawal from social networks, the idea of installing his own force in that field to facilitate contact with his followers has been around Trump’s head. His first attempt was the blog that saw the light in May: “From the desk of Donald J. Trump.”
However, that place, which was promoted as an important communication channel, had a very brief existence since it only lasted a month before the former president himself dismissed it.
