Truck crashed into a group of people who were having a barbecue in the Netherlands

At least six people have died and seven others were injured in an accident involving a transport truck. of the Spanish company ‘El Mosca’, which crashed yesterday, August 27, against a neighborhood barbecue or barbecue in the Netherlands, as announced this Sunday by the Dutch police, who are keeping the driver in custody.

One of the seven injured is in serious condition, added the police. The goods transport vehicle, which had the sign of the Spanish company ‘El Mosca’ printed on it, crashed yesterday afternoon into a group of dozens of people who were having a barbecue next to a dike near the town of Nieuw-Beijerlandin the province of South Holland and near the port city of Rotterdam.

The police detain the driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man of Spanish nationality, under suspicion of causing a fatal traffic accident, although the agents have stressed that he has not tested positive for alcohol, so he was not drunk.

The authorities are investigating the causes of the accident and have already requested the collaboration of neighbors and bystanders who may have photos or videos to clarify the circumstances of this tragedy. At the moment, the police know that the truck was parked near the dam prior to the accident and the vehicle then started moving for unknown reasons.

Charlie Aptroot, mayor of the town, told public television ‘NOS’ that the tragic accident “has a great impact on the residents” of Nieuw-Beijerland and assured that “it’s a tight-knit community, and people just want to know now how their loved ones and friends are doing”.
