The US organization specified that, by passing the remains of Agatha to the Atlantic Oceanthis meteor will proceed to be called Alex, which is moving towards the east.
The alert for the recently formed meteorological phenomenon extends from Longboat Keyon the Gulf Coast, south to the other side of the peninsula of the state of Florida, which includes Lake Okeechobee. Likewise, the Florida Keys were also warned.
Meanwhile, the Cuban government issued a tropical storm warning for the communities of Matanzas, Mayabeque, Havana, Artemisa, Pinar del Río and the Isle of Youth.
For this meteor, the National Hurricane Center forecasts up to 25 centimeters of rain in some parts of South Florida, although it is not expected to bring strong winds or cause significant storm surge.
“Heavy rain will begin to affect South Florida and the Keys on Friday and continue through Saturday,” he said.
This Thursday afternoon, the agency specified, the meteor had maximum sustained winds of around 55 km/h with higher intensity wind gustsso possible flooding is expected.
