It is the 2nd Palme d’Or for Swedish director Ruben Östlund; “Close” and “Stars at Noon” took the Grand Prix
The film “Triangle of Sadness” won the Palme d’Or, the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The announcement was made this Saturday (May 28, 2022).
It is the 2nd Palme d’Or for Swedish director Ruben Östlund, who had already won in 2017 with “The Square: The Art of Discord”.
“Triangle of Sadness” is a satirical comedy about the sinking of a luxury cruise liner for the super-rich. The survivors end up on a deserted island, which changes power relations.
The Grand Prix, the 2nd biggest prize at the film festival, went to “Close”, by Belgian Lukas Dhont, and “Stars at noon”, by French director Claire Denis.
The Jury Prize was awarded to “Eo”, by the Polish Jerzy Skolimowski, and “Le Otto Montagne”, by the Belgian couple. Felix Van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch.
The Iranian Zar Amir Ebrahimi took the award for best actress for playing journalist Rahimi in “Holly Spider”. In the best actor category, the winner was South Korean Song Kang-ho in the role of Sang-hyeon in “Broker”.
