Petersburg scientists have begun testing a vaccine against coronavirus based on lactic acid bacteria, said Alexander Suvorov, head of the department of molecular microbiology of the institute, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. TASS…
The development of the world’s first ryazhenka-flavored inoculation is carried out by the Institute of Experimental Medicine. At the moment, experts are testing the novelty on animals. “The vaccine will be perfect for children and adults,” the scientist emphasized. He is confident in the safety of the product.
Scientists have made sure that the vaccine produces a sustained immune response. This is evidenced by an increase in the blood of animal antibodies – immunoglobulins of classes A (IgA) and G (IgG). The preparation was nicknamed the ryazhenka vaccine because of the content of lactic acid probiotic bacteria in the product.
Experts promise that the drug will act “gently” on the body. You will need to take the vaccine every six months. “This probiotic strain lives in the intestines for some time and disappears after a week, having completed its task,” explained Suvorov. Experts promise to present the results of the research in November. After that, clinical trials of the drug will begin.
In the future, they intend to sell the vaccine in pharmacies in the form of capsules. Earlier, Suvorov stressed that the taste of the vaccine will not differ from the usual fermented baked milk.
