Trek to Yomi has returned to show itself in trailer also at State of Play Sony PlayStation, thus confirming its arrival on PS4 and PS5 as well as on PC, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One.
Developed by Flying Wild Hog, Trek to Yomi is a particular scrolling action adventure set in 2D but with 3D graphics, set in the Feudal Japan. It is a game strongly based on storytelling, which collects inspirations from the history of Japan and Shinto mythology.
In this context, we witness the Hiroki story which is intertwined with other stories, those of his ancestors, which are staged giving life to a story on different temporal planes that are reflected on each other. It is a tragic and epic story, founded on fighting and dramatic moments that contribute to Hiroki’s growth and progression.
The declared inspiration from the developers are the classic films of Akira Kurosawa, which emerge with a certain clarity also in the graphic style, for which a particular rather unusual black and white has been adopted based on the Unreal Engine. The pillars of Trek to Yomi are therefore a certain authenticity as regards the reconstruction of feudal Japanese settings and costumes and fidelity to the style of classic cinema on samurai and traditional figures of Japan.
The result is a very interesting game, as demonstrated once again by this presentation trailer. Trek to Yomi is expected on 2022 but it does not have a precise date yet, however it is expected directly on Xbox Game Pass upon release, as well as on PC, PS4 and PS5. It was announced at E3 2021 with a trailer and some images.
