From the FAN FUTURA Fest, which will take place from July 26 to 31 in San Javier, not only will Steve Aoki’s electronic dance or Bizarrap’s Latin trap sprout, but also branches and leaves. The organization of the festival sponsored by LA VERDAD together with Estrella de Levante, the Autonomous Community and the City Council of San Javier, began this Friday the planting of the forest that, in successive editions, will grow to offset the carbon footprint of the event. In the park on Cabo Huertas street, in Santiago de la Ribera, the first specimens of hackberry trees planted will grow in an act attended by the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, as the first echo action of the first sustainable festival in the Region of Murcia, certified by Evensost.
“It is a commitment that arises from awareness, especially because we are on the edge of the Mar Menor and with music we can reach young people more quickly,” explains the deputy director of the FAN FUTURA Fest, José Manuel Jiménez.

From now on, the carbon footprint of jazz and theater festivals will be calculated to offset them with environmental actions
Both the will to recover spaces with vegetation for the citizens, as well as the contributions for the protection of the lagoon distinguish this festival among the ocean of cultural events in the Spanish southeast. They have already participated financially in the regeneration of the Mar Menor in projects carried out by Ecologists in Action, such as the recovery of the fartet in Carmolí and the restoration of the habitats of Las Amoladeras and La Lengua de Vaca, in Cartagena.
fourteen hackberries
From the FAN FUTURA Fest the park that will bear the name of the festival has just been born. Its first heirs are 14 hackberries, the trees chosen by Anse to regreen this area of San Javier and offset the impact of the first edition, in 2021.
“San Javier is going to be a pole of attraction for young people on vacation this summer due to water sports, music and culture,” said the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, at the tree planting, an act in which young people from San Javier participated.
The FAN FUTURA Fest has also promoted a sustainable initiative in San Javier, since from now on the carbon footprint of the jazz and theater festivals will be calculated to offset them with environmental actions.
