Footballer Denzel Dumfries leaves PSV and will play for Internazionale in Italy. The club from Milan announced Saturday night the arrival of the 25-year-old right back, who scored two goals for the Dutch national team at the last European Championship. Dumfries has signed a contract with Inter until mid-2025. PSV will receive 15 million euros for him, according to sports media.
The announcement of the transfer comes as no surprise. The talks had been going on for several weeks. In the meantime, Dumfries was no longer in action at PSV. PSV coach Roger Schmidt said on Friday that he wholeheartedly wishes his player the switch. “It was his wish to go there. Inter is a big club that plays in the Champions League. Denzel has meant a lot to PSV. I’m happy for him and wish him the best.”
Dumfries, born in Rotterdam, completed his youth education with the current third divisionist BVV Barendrecht and with Sparta. The latter club made him debut in the Eredivisie in 2015. In 2018 Dumfries ended up at PSV, where he immediately became a fixed value. He is also usually in the starting line-up in Orange – Dumfries has played 23 international matches so far.
For PSV, Dumfries is not the only important player to leave this summer. Midfielder Pablo Rosario went to OGC Nice, while Donyell Malen, who scored 19 league goals last season, switched to Borussia Dortmund. PSV won its first competition match against Heracles Almelo 2-0 on Saturday.
