The little girl was last seen last Tuesday, March 26, near the house where she lives with her parents, in the village of Banjsko Polje, about 225 kilometers south-east of Belgrade. Already on the same day, Serbia had activated the system for the first timeAmber Alert' for the urgent dissemination of information on missing children, introduced in the country in October last year.
Over the weekend, hopes of finding Danka alive were fueled by the release of a video depicting a little girl at a bus station in Vienna. “We are waiting for all this to end, hoping for the best – the girl's mother declared to the local Serbian news station Nova in recent days – and then my husband and I will speak publicly and respond to all the insults, accusations and absurdity”.
