Missing Girl Found Dead in Türkiye After 19 Days: Mother, Father, Brothers, Uncles Arrested

After 19 days of anguish and hope, Turkey woke up today with the most terrible news: the lifeless body of Narina little girl of only 8 years old disappeared into thin air last August 21st. The little girl was lying hidden in a sack on the bank of a stream, one kilometer from the village of Tavsantepe, where she lived with her family. A discovery that has left millions of people shocked, united in her search, hoping for a different outcome.

The Turkish authorities, after an intense search involving hundreds of rescuers and law enforcement, found the little girl’s body hidden under stones and branches. The governor of the province of Diyarbakir reports that the bag containing the small body was carefully hidden, camouflaged in the environment. The Turkish Interior Minister confirmed the news with a disheartening message:

“Unfortunately the missing child was found dead at around 8.45am wearing the clothes she was last seen wearing”.

Since Narin’s disappearance, the Turkish community had mobilized with all its strength to search for her. The campaign “Find Narin” had involved numerous celebrities, activists and thousands of users on social media, who had incessantly shared appeals for his recovery. The entire region had rallied around the family, unaware that within those very walls was hiding the suspect of horror.

The horror does not stop at the discovery. The investigation led to the arrest of 21 people, including the little girl’s parents, brothers and uncles. The uncle Narin had already been arrested last week on serious charges of murder and deprivation of liberty. A few days later, other members of the family ended up in handcuffs with disturbing suspicions: it seems that all of them could have had a role in the crime.

According to the agency Anadoluamong those arrested are the mother, the father, two older brothers, three uncles and the uncle’s wife already in custody. Suspicions are growing on a possible family conspiracy that led to the horrible death of the little girl.

The Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc told local media:

“The investigation into the disappearance of the child will continue with the autopsy on the body”
