Lino Ungaro dies at 55 in a dramatic accident on state road 19: rescue efforts useless

During the night between Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd September, a terrible accident shocked the community of Gussago, leading to the tragic disappearance of Linus Hungarian55 years old, originally from Ome. The man lost his life in a violent crash that occurred along the Provincial Road 19, a short distance from the entrance to the Ronco tunnel.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight, when Ungaro suddenly lost control of his car for reasons yet to be ascertained. The vehicle overturned after first crashing into the guardrail and then into some trees along the roadway. The impact triggered a terrifying spin, which threw the driver out of the passenger compartment. Despite the timely intervention of the 118 medical staff, who sent two medical cars and an ambulance to the scene, there was nothing that could be done for the man: he died instantly due to the serious injuries he sustained.

The Carabinieri of Gardone Valtrompia intervened at the scene of the tragedy to carry out surveys and try to clarify the dynamics of the accident. At the moment there are no other vehicles involved in the accident, but investigations are underway to establish the exact causes of the loss of control of the vehicle.

This latest fatal accident brings the issue of road safety back to the forefront. Especially at night and on extra-urban roads such as Strada Provinciale 19, where poor lighting, tiredness or adverse weather conditions can increase the risk of accidents. The episode once again raises the issue of the use of seat belts. A fundamental device that, if used correctly, can make the difference between life and death in the event of a violent impact. According to initial findings, it seems that Lino Ungaro was thrown out of the passenger compartment, a sign that he may not have been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. This is the main hypothesis that the authorities are still investigating.
