The bull, returned to the corrals and that was going to be pointed, got up and surprised the operator, who was transferred in critical condition to the Reina Sofía hospital, where he finally died
The afternoon of bullfighting in La Condomina ended yesterday in tragedy. One of the bulls from the Daniel Ruiz ranch, which should have been fought in third place, with the name of ‘Cleaner’, but which was returned to the pens for limping from the hindquarters, fatally gored one of the butchers of the team from the square that was going to undercut him, late at night.
The event caught everyone by surprise, since the corral operator, according to the website ‘El Muletazo’, finished off the animal from above with the pole and it fell to the ground, as if thunderous, but when the butcher proceeded to start his job, the animal, weighing 472 kilos, got up by surprise, giving him several gorings, one of them, which was later fatal, in the belly, as well as in other parts of the body.
The animal, from Daniel Ruiz’s ranch and weighing 472 kilos, had been returned for limping in the hindquarters
The people who remained in the horse yard of the square once the bullfight was over saw the great commotion caused by removing the victim from the corrals, given the seriousness of the situation. The worker, who some of the witnesses confirmed to THE TRUTH that his name was Santiago, was immediately transferred to the Reina Sofía hospital by the ambulance that was prepared to attend to the bullfighters of the bullfight.
The tragedy coincides with the 25th anniversary of the death of corralero Ángel Sánchez Mompeán, ‘Angelín’, gored by a steer in 1997
After twelve o’clock at night it was learned that the butcher, who arrived in critical condition, lost his life in the hospital. The doctors were able to save him from a cardiorespiratory arrest, but, unfortunately, there was a second one with which nothing could be done.
The tragedy during the first bullfight of the Murcia Fair, after the return to normality due to the break caused by the pandemic, happens just when in a few days it will be 25 years since another of the greatest tragedies in the bullring, the death of corralero Ángel Sánchez Mompeán, ‘Angelín’, who died on September 20, 1997 after being gored by a steer from the Las Ramblas ranch.
The organizers of the bulls confirm that the bullfights will not be suspended this Tuesday afternoon. A minute of silence will be observed.
