1: No Bavarians there!
Ka minister from Bavaria! That was worth an outcry from Bavaria and CSU General Secretary Markus Blume this week: “16 percent of Germans are Bavarians, but Bavarian ministers: none.” The chairman of the Junge Union Bayern, Christian Doleschal, even sees an “anti-Bavaria coalition.” “At work. Such identity-political tones were not previously used from the ranks of the Union. Other interest groups could join in: there is also no Saarlander in the cabinet; there were just three more, as if it wouldn’t work without the Saarland! And no miller or Meier got a ministry (at least a Schmidt).
2: Some women there!
Subject women: Yes. They exist. Increasingly also where there is something to be decided. The new government has eight female ministers (and eight ministers). Now all the citizens have to do is learn their names. What’s the name of the green one again, who is the family minister? And the FDP woman with the double name, no, not Strack-Zimmermann, who takes care of education? But the ministers don’t have to worry. Merkel was once the new member of the cabinet (“There were doubts about their names. The former deputy government spokeswoman de Maizières must now show that she can learn quickly,” FAZ of January 18, 1991).
