Normalcy has returned to the roads after the worst of the pandemic. The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) addresses this bridge the second major departure operation, with 5,530,000 trips, after the arrival of the coronavirus at the beginning of 2020. This traffic volume represents 1.55% more than that of the Everyone’s bridge Los Santos of 2019, last comparable figure given that last year the restrictions reduced the number of trips. In addition to the usual interurban routes of all the bridges, there are other, shorter ones, up to the cemeteries throughout the country. Aena has scheduled 17,878 flights from this Friday to Monday: 7,416 domestic and 10,462 international. The total adds 7,958 fewer departures than on the same bridge in 2019, which lasted one more day.
The special operation prepared for the All Saints Bridge began this Friday at three in the afternoon and will run until midnight on Monday. 1,325 radars are enabled – 780 fixed and 545 mobile – to which are added 39 drones, 13 helicopters, 15 vans to control the use of the mobile phone behind the wheel and the seat belt, and 216 cameras.
Due to the meteorological forecasts that warn of constant rains in the country during the four days of the operation (from Friday to Monday), the DGT has asked to be extremely careful at the wheel, moderate speed and increase the safety distance with the rest of the vehicles.
At 6.30 p.m. this Friday, there are important retentions in all Madrid departures, mainly on the A-1 towards Burgos at the height of San Agustín de Guadalix, on the A-3 towards Valencia at the height of Villarejo de Salvanés and on the A-5 in Arroyomolinos and Navalcarnero There is also very slow traffic on the AP-7 towards Tarragona at the height of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona). An accident in Bétera (Valencia) on the A-7 towards Alicante stands out, causing a traffic jam of eight kilometers. More accidents have been registered on the A-4 in Toledo capital in the direction of Ciudad Real, on the A-5 in Otero and in Lucillos, also in the province of Toledo, in the direction of Badajoz, and on the A-7 in Murcia in direction to Alicante.
The most notable retentions are registered this Friday, between four in the afternoon and ten at night in the main exit routes of the big cities. During Saturday and Sunday, there will also be heavy outbound traffic between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
On Monday, retentions are expected to be registered from early in the morning on the access roads to the cemeteries. The peak of traffic will be reached in the afternoon, with the return of travelers to their places of origin, between four in the afternoon and eleven at night.
With the intention of making traffic more fluid at peak times during the bridge, Traffic will paralyze all road works, install reversible and additional lanes, and restrict sports activities and the flow of trucks at certain times.
On the bridge, the Community of Madrid and the neighboring provinces will accumulate the highest number of trips (26%) followed by the southeast of the country (21%). Aragon will be the one with the least movement with only 8% of the total.
The DGT has warned of the reduction of daylight hours. At dawn from Saturday to Sunday, the change to winter time will take place – at three in the morning it will be two again -, so it will get dark as of Sunday.
