The Brazilian trade balance had a surplus of US$7.5 billion in March 2024. The result represents a drop of 30.4% compared to the same month in 2023, when the positive balance was US$10.8 billion.
It is the lowest balance for the month since 2021, when the surplus obtained that year was US$6.5 billion. The data was released this Thursday (April 4, 2024) by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade of the Doctor (Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services). Exports totaled US$28 billion in March 2024, which represents a drop of 14.8% compared to March 2023 (US$32.8 billion).
Imports reached US$20.5 billion, a decrease of 7.1% compared to March last year (US$22.1 billion).
ACCUMULATED
Year-to-date, the positive balance is US$19.1 billion. It represents an increase of 22.2% compared to the first 3 months of 2023 (US$ 15.6 billion).
Exports total US$78.3 billion in January, February and March 2024 (up 3.2%). Imports totaled US$59.2 billion in the period (drop of 1.8%).
