“Long live the farmers, whose tractors are forcing Europe to take back the follies imposed by multinationals and the left”, said the Minister of Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, in a note ''after the legislative proposal on pesticides''.
“The U-turn announced by Ursula von der Leyen on the proposal to reduce pesticides in agriculture by half it is a victory for the League and for common sense – say Lega MEPs Marco Zanni and Marco Campomenosi -. In the absence of alternatives available on the market that guarantee low prices and production capacity, in the November vote in the European Parliament the League – they recall – voted against the measure, with a decisive contribution to the rejection of the proposal and demonstrating, once again, that the the so-called 'Ursula majority' no longer existed for some time, torn apart by clashes and internal divisions”.
“Today, about four months after the vote – they continue – besieged by farmers' protests and the cry of alarm from fundamental sectors put at risk by these crazy policies, the Commission realizes that its ideological, extremist and harmful proposals for businesses , workers and families were wrong, as well as unrealizable. We have supported it from day one, the facts are proving us right. In Europe we need a clear change of direction, to remedy the many mistakes of this Commission”, they conclude.
