Passionate Japanese customers of Toyota Yaris will see the Japanese subcompact range expand with a new, more powerful version called GRMN. Unveiled in the frame of the Tokyo 2022 Motor Show, this new variant of the Yaris will be destined exclusively for the home market, and will be produced in only 500 units: compared to the standard GR Yaris it brings a series of upgrades of different nature, and can be purchased with both the Circuit Pack and the Rally Pack, which boast an important weight reduction.
The new Toyota GRMN Yaris is equipped with the same 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine as the standard model, which delivers to Japanese specification but delivers 268 HP of power and 390 Nm of maximum torque, a slight increase from the 370 Nm of the standard GR Yaris. In combination, a six-speed manual gearbox will be offered, as well as mechanical limited-slip differentials at both the front and rear. The removal of the rear seats is interesting, which makes this version of the Yaris one two seats which relies on the massive use of carbon fiber for the hood, roof and rear spoiler. The aesthetic overview of the GRMN Yaris is enhanced by 18 ″ BBS wheels, more impressive brakes, new Bilstein adjustable shock absorbers and extended side skirts. Furthermore, if you opt for the Circuit Pack version, a Matte Steel paint finish is also available, the production of which will be limited to only 50 units.
Toyota has announced that the first deliveries of the new GRMN Yaris will take place at the GR Garages around next summer. At the moment, as mentioned, the sale of the more powerful version of the small Japanese will be limited to the domestic market, but it cannot be ruled out that in the future Toyota will decide to export it to other international markets as well. Prices for the new GRMN Yaris start at 7,137,000 yen, the correspondent of around 56,000 euros.
