The smallest of the Toyota launches a crossover version. These are their secrets …
The Toyota Aygo is the smallest model that the Japanese firm has available for Europe. It is an A-segment urbanite that measures less than 3.5 meters long and is offered with a three-cylinder engine with a cubic capacity of one liter and 72 hp.
Well, now, following the fashions of the market that in the end is what marks the way of sales, Toyota has just launched a new model based on this Aygo that adopts the name of
Toyota Aygo X and that, as anticipated by the last letter of his surname, he incorporates some more adventurous traits that are associated with the crossover character. As we say, it is not so much a version associated with the current Aygo, but a completely new model that pretends to be a more “jacket” alternative.
Still, there are aesthetic details that are undeniably close to the standard Aygo, like the ‘X’ shaped front end and vertical tail lights embedded in the ends.
Larger and more advanced than the Aygo from which it derives
Of course, it adds new elements that make it more advanced. A good example is the modular TNGA-B platform that it shares, for example, with the Yaris utility vehicle. This makes it larger than the model it comes from: its length reaches 3.70 meters by a width of 1.74 meters and a height of 1.51 meters. One of the things that attracts the most attention on the outside is its sliding canvas roof.
Of course, it adds connectivity sizing technology through Android Auto and Apple Car Play, the Toyota Smart Connect system with a 9-inch screen or the Toyota Safety Sense package, among others.
The new Toyota Aygo X is marketed with the same 72 hp 1.0 engine that its brother mounts. It promises a 0 to 100 km / h in 15.5 seconds, a maximum speed of 158 km / h and an official consumption in combined use of 4.7 l / 100 km.
