In the current unpredictable situation, Russian tourists abroad should financially rely on themselves, warned the general director of the Turpomoshch association Alexander Osaulenko.
According to Osaulenko, money may also be needed to pay for medical services if the local clinic refuses to accept an insurance policy.
“You need to be prepared for the fact that bank cards abroad may not work, clinics may ask for cash. Therefore, you need to take enough money on a trip – how much, everyone decides for himself, depending on the goals and type of trip. By presidential decree, you can now take with you no more than $10,000 in cash or the equivalent amount in euros,” he told Izvestia.
Dmitry Kuznetsov, Vice-President of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS), agreed with this opinion. According to him, tourists should now have funds with them to pay for possible medical services abroad. Then, upon arrival home, you should contact the insurer for reimbursement of expenses.
“In case of health problems, you don’t need to go to the first doctor you come across for crazy money. You must first notify the insurance company and get confirmation from it that the costs will be compensated, ”the expert advised.
Earlier, on March 1, it became known that a number of clinics in Thailand stopped accepting insurance from Russia and Ukraine as a guarantee of payment for medical care.
We are talking about three private clinics in Phuket – Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Bangkok Hospital Siriroj, Dibuk Hospital.
“It is likely that in the near future other clinics in the country will join the refusal to accept insurance. This will affect tourists from all Russian insurance companies,” believes Dmitry Kuznetsov.
