There is no peace for Genoese mobility. The opening of two new yards in fact, it threatens to block an entire strategic area of the Ligurian capital: it will begin at 10 pm on Friday 6 August with the closure of the motorway section between the Genoa Airport and Genoa Pra ‘toll booths, for a forced stop that will last at least until 23 August, and will continue until the works scheduled for three days later in Genova Marittima, the reference railway station of the basins of the historic port of Sampierdarena, which instead they will last until 29 August.
A10, black August for Liguria
The scenario he would see almost the entire city in check cause construction sites has triggered the reactions of politics and beyond. As reported by The Corriere della Sera on newsstands today, it was the governor of the Liguria Region who was the first to raise his voice: “Genoa and Liguria cannot continue to be hostage to construction sites, with very serious repercussions on our economy. It is essential that in the meeting (with Aspi, editor’s note) improvement solutions are identified to reduce the strong impact of this construction site on Genoa’s traffic which risks paralyzing the port and the entire region ”. There Aspi’s response however, it was almost immediate: the motorway company reiterated that these interventions are decisive since they will make it possible to extend the life of the infrastructures, but that at the same time it is willing to reconcile safety with traffic and attention to citizens.
Construction sites and curious, easy accidents towards the holidays
The words of the Toti government were followed by those of the president of Assagenti, the association of Genoese shipping agents, Paolo Pessina: “It’s a unsustainable situation. Especially when the works already planned on the railway network will be simultaneously with this motorway construction site: two unacceptable situations. There is a risk of the blocking of goods to and from the port of Genoa in the Sampierdarena basin and some shipping companies have already communicated to customers the almost total impossibility of using the port in this period, suggesting alternative stopovers as the city traffic it will hardly be able to absorb the flow of heavy vehicles that will run over it “.
