The AC Milan leadership is working to define everything by the meeting on Thursday 8 July. For Bakayoko, however, more time is needed
In the deal (only the official announcement is missing, shortly) everyone did their part: for the Rossoneri faith and for the desire to continue to wear the number 8 of the idol Gattuso, Sandro Tonali also gave his share. Or maybe, put it back. Last summer it was he who chose Milan instead of Juve and above all Inter who had also sought him out. Twelve months later, to extend his stay with the Rossoneri, he chose to reduce his salary. San Siro is worth the waiver of a part of the salary of 1 million and six hundred thousand euros, a waiver that the club and owners appreciated and which was considered decisive to close the deal.
But Tonali did more: it was he who said he was available for a discount on his salary, even before it was requested by the management. In this way the circle was closed, to everyone’s delight: of course the player but also of Milan. Maldini and Massara, Rossoneri dt and ds, have never shown signs of indecision. Even when the discussion went on for a long time, theirs was a firm will. Elliott has agreed to cover the investment that reflects the entire corporate strategy: Tonali is very young, he has just turned 21, and a potential still to be exploited in the Rossoneri. And Brescia is satisfied that even without collecting the 35 million agreed last summer, will have the young Olzer (attacking midfielder) and later will be able to welcome Colombo, who as the only striker present today in the Milan squad will begin the meeting on 8 July with Pioli. Date that Tonali also circled on his calendar: he would like to be there too. The agreement has been reached, there are only the final formalities to be completed. If they are completed by Thursday, Sandro will be at Milanello.
Bakayoko, not now
Even in the middle, Pioli will have to count those present: Kessie has been officially called up by the Ivory Coast for the Olympics and will not be there. Bennacer had made an appointment in August for the foot operation he suffered immediately after the end of the championship: he will resume training earlier, but not next week. And if Tonali comes to the rescue soon, the same is not true for Bakayoko. The Frenchman is on the list of Rossoneri goals, but no short times are expected: after the Tomori deal, the axis with London can only be re-established later. Chelsea has just extended the player’s contract to 2023, a faculty he possessed and which allowed him to extend the agreement without having to request the opinion of the person concerned. Exactly like for Giroud: Milan is still waiting for news of his possible free release.
