A FSM Polski Fiat 126p 1974 may not be a specialty. But everything changes if a Hollywood star has it. This is the case with the 126 white by Tom Hanks, an example adored by the actor and now put up for sale for charity. The online auction is taking place on the Bring A Trailer website (it will close on March 8) with a donation that will go to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the related campaign, Hidden Heroes. The initiative is concerned with offering aid to be used to assist war veterans, a category that is often forgotten in the United States.
The car is very well maintained and is customized just for Tom Hanks, complete with dedication, autograph and green interior. This is a truly picturesque car, with interior finishes in aluminum and wood, switches reminiscent of typewriters (another great passion of Hanks) and special badges. The cabin has been refurbished by Carlex Design of Czechowice-Dziedzice, and features front bucket seats and a rear bench finished in green leather. The dashboard and door lock knobs were handcrafted. In addition, a toy dog is perched on the rear window.
The car was repainted in White from BB Oldtimer Garage, based in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Key exterior features include rectangular headlights with black housings, chrome bumpers, driver’s side mirror, rear side panel air intakes and “Bielsko-Biała for Tom Hanks“. The hazard lights and turn signals of the 126p have been repaired for sale.
A rear-mounted 594cc inline twin engine completes the car, with its significant 23 horsepower, paired with four available ratios. The ‘Maluch’ by Hanks is therefore a very particular version of a car that has had an incredible success in Poland, and which in its history, counting the various countries where it was produced, has almost reached 5 million units.
