Sports Tolima has at this time the worst night in its international history, losing 7-1 against Flamengo at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The worst defeat of a Colombian team in the Copa Libertadores occurred on March 16, 2011, when Cruzeiro crushed Deportes Tolima 6-1. That day the Argentinian Wálter Montillo, Wallyson, Roger (2, one penalty), Gilberto and Thiago Ribeiro scored. Discounted Christian Marrugo.
There were two other defeats by five goals difference for Colombian teams in the Libertadores. The first was Junior’s, on April 22, 1981, against Rosario Central in the ‘Gigante de Arroyito’. The goals were from Eduardo Bacas, Félix Lorenzo Orte (2), Víctor Marchetti and Jorge García.
Deportivo Cali was the protagonist, for worse, of the other heavy defeat: on March 3, 2016, Bolívar thrashed it 5-0 in La Paz, with goals from Juan Carlos Arce (3), José Luis Sánchez Capdevilla and Rudy Cardozo. In that same edition, Cali lost 6-2 against Boca in La Bombonera.
They also received six goals in the Libertadores Independiente Medellín (6-2 against River Plate, in 1967), Santa Fe (6-2 against 31 de Octubre, from Bolivia, also in 1967) and Deportivo Cali (6-2 against Millonarios, in 1973).
