The 23 July, or the day of the opening ceremony of the much discussed Tokyo Olympics, will be broadcast on the official site a nice animated short made by Ponoc study which will bear the name Tomorrow’s Leaves, of which we can already admire a first trailer:
The official website of the Olympic committee also has a small introduction to the story:
The annual arrival of the messenger leaf is cause for concern: something is undeniably wrong.
Its usually vibrant and lasting colors fade quickly, and it suddenly wilts and crumbles.
Five characters, from five different lands, are sent to find out what happened.
The envoys travel to a distant land, silently guided by tiny spirits. Each envoy has their own strengths and vulnerabilities. They compete and support each other as they approach their destination, facing treacherous terrain and difficult conditions. Through athletic challenges and the power union of sport, they discover the positive core values that come from playful competition.
Together, the envoys approach the source of the message leaf.
Will they be able to revive a future in danger?
This short originally debuted at the opening ceremony of theAnnecy Festival last June 14, and is currently showing at the Skytree Round Theater of the Tokyo Skytree.
