Minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), showed a “considerable clinical improvement” in the pneumonia that led him to be hospitalized yesterday, but there is still no discharge date, according to a medical bulletin released by the DF Star Hospital, located in Brasília.
The hospital says the cause of the inflammation is “hypersensitivity,” but does not attribute the pneumonia to the smoke from the fires that have spread across the federal capital in recent days.
“The DF Star Hospital informs that STF minister José Antônio Dias Toffoli has shown considerable clinical improvement in the last 24 hours. He is recovering from a case of hypersensitivity pneumonia. He is currently stable, breathing spontaneously and with no discharge date expected,” the bulletin informs.
According to the Court’s press office, the medical recommendation is that the minister stay away from work for 14 days starting this Wednesday, the 18th. At the opening of today’s plenary session, the president of the Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso, said that Toffoli “had a health problem” and sent “wishes for a speedy recovery”.
