Little Lorys Stival, the child killed by his mother in 2014 in Santa Croce Camerina, would have become an adult today
Today the forever small Lorys Stival he would have celebrated his 18th birthday. The memory of him, his smile, still remain alive in the mind and heart of his father Davide, who celebrated this day by dedicating a heartbreaking letter to him published in the newspaper Sicily. The words of man.
It was November 29, 2014 when the name of Lorys Stival, an 8-year-old boy Santa Croce Camerina in the province of Ragusa, became sadly known for his brutal murder. Crime which, as it later turned out, had been committed by his mother, Veronica Panarellowho was given a 30-year prison sentence.
Today, June 18, 2024, almost 10 years after she passed away, Lorys he would have celebrated his 18th birthday. What remained, however, forever alive, is the memory of him in Davide’s heart, his Pope. The man wrote and issued a heartbreaking letter, published by the newspaper Sicilywith which she wanted to publicly wish her baby a happy birthday.
Hi Lorys, today you would have become an adult, you would have turned 18, an important age much desired by children, that is, a goal for many new things, such as a driving licence, a car, etc.. but unfortunately I can only think and imagine it…
Thus begins the letter of the man, still today broken by an inconsolable pain, who then he concludes: “My thoughts are always alive, even though I know you’re no longer here, but I want to always remember you with your smile from when we played together. On your birthday, I and your little brother will stop to look at the sky so we can see all the stars shine. And I say all, because I’m sure that from up there you will be celebrating together with your “angel friends”. Between a tear and a smile, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORYS”.
