CST Tires launches the new premium tyre Saleks E-X1 for electric vehicleswhich immediately established itself as one of the best in the test by the French agency UTAC on Tesla Model Y (size 255/45 R19). The new tire will be presented at the international fair The Tirescheduled in Cologne from 4 to 6 June 2024 with further details.

The tyre Saleks E-X1 was designed by CST Tires for electric cars which ensures superior maneuverability and stability, even in difficult conditionswith reduction in consumption.
In the anagram of the name Saleks there are the characteristics of this tire, with S which stands for Silicia (Silica compound technology), A for All-Around (“all-round” performance on dry and wet surfaces), L for Low (low rolling resistance), And for Engineered (designed and engineered for electric vehicles), K for Kinder (kinder and more attentive to the environment) e S for Soundless (for reduced noise).
Specific features for electric cars
Thanks to the optimized tread design and advanced materials, this tire minimizes rolling resistance, improving theenergy efficiency with improved autonomy. Furthermore, the CST tire uses an innovative noise reduction technologyensuring a quieter ride and greater comfort for passengers.
The Saleks E-X1 tire also takes into account the greater weight of an electric car, due to the presence of the battery and for this reason the structure of the tire has been strengthened to avoid a irregular consumption caused by the increased weight (carcass reinforced by +20%, steel belt reinforced by +15%, textile belt reinforced by +20%)
The tire structure also takes into account the greater power of electric motors compared to traditional motors, guaranteeing excellent grip on the ground in the event of sudden accelerations (or emergency braking).
CST Tires technology for mixing a low temperatures the rubber together with the various chemical components improves the distribution of the silica in the tread by 30%, allowing it to spread uniformly with a “diamond” structure over the entire surface of the tire so as to improve its overall performance. This structure improves wet braking (+10%), rolling resistance for longer mileage (+5%) and tread life (+3%).
Furthermore, the side of the new Saleks E-X1 has been studied at length wind tunnel to improve its aerodynamic flow. The presence of a motif reminiscent of gods small rhombuses reduces drag and accelerates airflow across the entire surface, helping to reduce consumption of energy and increase the kilometers travelled.
Wet tread
The 3D design with diamond arrows and repeated and constant blades on the central rib characterize the tread, for a smoother ride. The “V” shaped slats in the internal rib, however, they increase the tire’s footprint on the ground for greater stability and better control when cornering.
On the wet the particular cutting angle of the slats and the four grooves main ones ensure the best dispersion of water in order to avoid the dangerous phenomenon of aquaplaning on roads with a lot of water.
To reduce the rolling noise the CST technicians have opted for narrower grooves on the shoulder, which reduce air-induced vibrations and resulting noise. The different tread pitch in the shoulder area, however, eliminates resonance, another typical cause of tire noise.
Then there is extra padding on the shoulder, as well as a thicker internal lining to absorb internal noise; finally, Diamond Foam technology, with polyurethane foam, reduces noise inside the passenger compartment 5dB thanks to the use of a solid foam in polyurethane with a structure Honeycomb.
