Sumptuous race from the rookie
Pedro Acosta it was the only bastion of the ‘rest of the world’ for those who did not have a Ducati at their disposal in Indonesia. The GasGas rookie overtook Bastianini at the start of the race, taking second position and never leaving it until the finish line.
The two-time world champion (once in Moto3 on his debut and once in Moto2) even dreamed of catching the leader Martin, but then had to settle for a second place which could vanish due to the tire pressure which is under investigation.
This is Acosta’s analysis to the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP: “Investigation? Let’s see what happens, but today was a good race because we had a good pace from the start, we’ll see. I think we found a very competitive and more natural setup for me, similar to what we used at the beginning of the season. We will try to continue like this because we are consistent in the top-5. Yesterday we suffered a lot with the grip of the rear, but there was the dream of being able to catch up on Martin. There was one lap I was 0.5 behind him and I told myself I could do it with one last effort, but in the end we know why he is the leader of the world championship. The pace he had at the end was higher than mine, but it was a good race.”
