ILCA 6 Youth Championship 6
The competition was held from April 14 to 16 in Vilamoura (Portugal)
Tim Lubat and Gabriela Morell, both regatists of the Royal Yacht Club of Palma (RCNP), have proclaimed youth European champions of the ILCA class 6. The competition, played in waters of Vilamoura (Portugal), has brought together 258 participants in the male category and 102 in the female April 19.
Lubat has been imposed on the absolute male classification after a magnificent performance. The Mallorcan farmist dominated the general until the fifth day, when he provisionally yielded the leadership of the Dutch Alexander Hartsink. However, in today’s decisive day he showed his technical quality and mental solidity again, winning the eleventh regatta and mathematically ensuring the title in the absence of a manga. The five partial victories obtained throughout the championship and the 23 -point advantage over the second classified are the eloquent evidence of the brilliant performance of the Mallorcan regatist.
In the female category, Gabriela Morell has crowned continental champion in the U17 category after concluding in the fourteenth absolute position. The young Mallorcan rooftist, who a year ago was proclaimed European Champion of Ilca4, has been throughout the competition within the top 15 of the general, surpassing older athletes and more experienced in the ILCA class 6. His partial triumph in one of the sleeves has allowed him to clearly sentence the youth title.
Sergio García, also from Del RCNP, touched the podium ending in fourth position in the male classification. Despite the last regatta and partial victory in another manga. Garcia, who occupied the second place behind Lubat in the first three days, has stayed at the gates of the bronze medal for only five points.
