The suspension of platforms and content in Russia continues. On this occasion, it has been revealed that TikTok and Netflix they blocked their services in this country. This is due, in part, to the actions committed against Ukraine in recent weeks, as well as a series of regulations for these platforms.
Starting with TikTok, it has been revealed that live broadcasts and video uploads will be suspended, not as punishment for the invasion of Russia, but as a consequence of new laws on the media, where anyone who transmits information that may be considered “false” will be punished with up to 15 years in prison. However, the messaging system will still be active. This was what was said about it:
“We have no choice but to suspend live broadcasts and new content on our video service while we review the security implications of this law.”
For its part, Netflix does block access and all future projects and acquisitions in Russia, this as a consequence of the invasion of Ukraine. This was the statement that was shared about it:
“Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia.”
Thus, Netflix joins various companies from various sectors in blocking its content in Russia, this as a consequence of the invasion of Ukraine. Among these companies is Activision Blizzard. However, these decisions have also been received negatively.
