“We want to continue trade, beneficial for both states, trade relations with Russia. We will always be neighbors. We will always be there. And we must create normal relations, ”the politician said at a speech in New York.
However, according to Tikhanovskaya, Russia should not interfere in internal affairs in order to positively influence the way out of the crisis. “And if the Kremlin wants to play a constructive role in getting out of this crisis, the only thing they can do is not to interfere in internal affairs,” she added.
Earlier, the ex-presidential candidate spoke about the possible use of Russian troops in Belarus. “I’m not an expert. We try to communicate with those who understand something in military affairs. I don’t think this is a threat, ”she replied to a question about fears about the use of Russian troops against the Belarusian opposition.
Tikhanovskaya arrived in the United States on July 18. She met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, US Senate Committee Chairman and US Ambassador to Belarus Julie Fisher. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry called the visit of the former presidential candidate a tourist trip.
