Red Bull Bragantino lost the opportunity to shoot again in the lead of the Brazilian Championship. This Thursday (1st), Massa Bruta and Ceará did not start from scratch at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, in Bragança Paulista (SP), for the eighth round of the competition.

The club from the interior is at the top of the table, now with 18 points; two ahead of runner-up Athletico-PR, who has a game in hand. The Paulistas ended a streak of four consecutive victories. Vozão, who tied for the third time in the last four matches, went to the same ten points of four other teams (Atletico-GO, Atlético-MG, Corinthians and Fluminense), appearing in 11th position, due to the goal difference.
Despite the offensive feature of the teams, Bragantino and Ceará had a first half zeroed in emotions – and on the scoreboard. According to Sofascore, a website specializing in football statistics, the hosts had greater possession of the ball (69%) and exchanged more than twice as many passes, but submitted the same number of times (two) as the visitors. Both teams, however, did not even hit the goal in the attempts.
The final stage saw a slightly greater offensive momentum from the teams. Ceará scared first, at seven minutes, in a kick crossed by the left of midfielder Fernando Sobral, inside the area, after dribbling over defender Fabrício Bruno, which goalkeeper Cleiton palmed. Bragantino responded on 24, with striker Artur’s shot from outside the area, which goalkeeper Richard defended.
Massa Bruta intensified the pressure, but sinned at the time of submission – there were 11, with only two on goal. In the final minutes, Vozão still lost forward Cleber, sent off by the second yellow card, but managed to hold the pressure from São Paulo.
The two teams return to play this Sunday (4), at 18:15 (Brasilia time). Bragantino is going to São Paulo to visit São Paulo, in Morumbi. Ceará receives the Juventude at Arena Castelão, in Fortaleza.
