The affected areas are Sierra Larga, Sierra Sopalmo and Sierra del Serral
Several outbreaks of forest fires occurred during the early hours of this Wednesday in the municipalities of Jumilla and Yecla as a result of numerous lightning strikes.
The areas affected by the flames were: Sierra Larga, in Jumilla, where 300 m² were burned; Sierra Sopalmo, also belonging to the municipality of Jumilla, where the affected area was 150 m²; and Sierra del Serral, in Yecla, where 3,000 m² were burned. The three fires are already extinguished.
In the tasks of extinguishing these fires, firefighters from the Consortium of Fire Extinction and Rescue of the Region of Murcia participated; environmental agents from Cieza, Jumilla and Yecla; technical personnel to support firefighting; Civil Protection of Jumilla and Cieza; Jumilla and Yecla Forest Brigade; and an extinguishing technician. In addition, the helicopter of the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergencies, with a helicopter brigade, traveled to the area to see if there is smoke, and cool those hottest areas.
