The lifeless bodies found next to the car they were traveling in in Ethiopia
Three Doctors Without Borders workers were killed in Tigray, Ethiopia. This was announced by the MSF itself, underlining that “yesterday afternoon, Maria Hernandez, coordinator of the emergency in the region, originally from Madrid, Yohannes Halefom Reda, Ethiopian, assistant coordinator, and Tedros Gebremariam Gebremichael, also an Ethiopian driver, were traveling when we have lost contact ».
This morning their vehicle was found empty and, a few meters away, the bodies of the three lifeless operators. “No words can explain our pain, dismay and indignation for this terrible attack, and nothing can alleviate the loss and suffering of their families and loved ones, to whom we transmit the deepest closeness – says a note from MSF -. We condemn this attack as forcefully as possible and will do everything we can to shed light on what happened. Maria, Yohaness and Tedros were in Tigray to provide assistance to the people and it is unthinkable that this job cost them their lives. We are in contact with their families and we ask that their privacy be respected in this difficult moment ».
