The cowardly murder of Juan Miguel Balsalobre, a man from Madrid living in Madrid who was stabbed to the neck by hooded men in March last year, has finally been solved by the National Police with the arrest of three allegedly implicated in the crime. Sources close to the investigation have confirmed to LA VERDAD that they are three alleged members of a criminal group that, apparently, claimed Juan Miguel Balsalobre to pay a debt that a very close relative had contracted. In this way, the victim, who ran a successful restoration business in the capital of Spain, would have ended up paying with his life for something for which he was not even responsible.
The crime occurred at dawn on Sunday, March 8, 2020, when this 49-year-old resident of Cieza arrived by car, along with his wife, to the vicinity of their home, located in the Madrid neighborhood of San Blas. Juan Miguel had settled in the capital four years earlier, taking a radical turn in his life, to which he had decided after meeting his sentimental partner.
A witness saw two men at the door of the house, “hidden and with hoods on their heads”, who had been waiting for at least an hour before the crime. He was particularly struck by the fact that they were practically hooded inside the car, “an old white Seat Leon.”
The restaurateur had a lot of money on him when he was stabbed and the authors of the murder did not take him
According to his testimony, the two suspects have been awaiting the arrival of Juan Miguel, who closed the bar of which he was regent that night a little later than usual. The business was near the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, where Atlético de Madrid had played a soccer game that Saturday afternoon. “Football days are filled to overflowing,” explained several friends of the victim hours after the crime.
A large collection
Juan Miguel and his partner had several thousand euros with them, the result of the collection of a long and intense work day, when they went home well into the morning.
When they arrived, at the stroke of two in the morning, they noticed the presence of the two individuals, who had already got out of the white Seat León and were waiting for them hidden behind a pickup truck. Juan Miguel got out of the car and saw how they were heading towards him, so he told his partner not to get out of the car and to lock herself inside. He faced his executioners, but they pounced on him and killed him practically on the spot by sticking a knife in his neck.
The ciezano, badly injured, went into respiratory arrest. Shortly after, the Sanitarians from the Madrid Samur arrived, who tried to carry out resuscitation maneuvers, but these were useless. Two days later, he was buried in his hometown, amidst great signs of pain that revealed that he was a very loved man.
Agents from Group V of Homicides and the Violent Crimes Section (DEVI) of the Scientific Police took charge of the investigation and began to try to clarify whether it had been an attempted robbery or, in another line, it was a previously planned murder.
His efforts soon began to be guided by this second hypothesis, above all due to the fact that the victim was carrying a large amount of money and the perpetrators of his death did not even take it away.
“Conflictive people”
Finally, the National Police specialists established that Juan Miguel had been threatened for some time, presumably because a person “very close” to him had contracted a debt “with very conflictive people”, and these individuals, aware that the Ciezano’s economic situation was comfortable, they demanded that he assume the payment.
Thus, it would have been his reluctance to submit to blackmail that would have led to the fact that, on that unfortunate morning in March, two hooded men approached him upon arrival at his home and cut his neck. Three of the alleged perpetrators are already detained, although the sources consulted have not specified whether the investigation is closed or still has some pending issues.
