The Indian missile flew over Pakistani airspace last Wednesday, landing in the eastern region of Punjab and damaging several civil structures.
With this statement, the India stepped out of the protests Pakistanwho hours before had summoned the Indian ambassador in Islamabad to convey his complaints about the incident and urge the Government of India to investigate what happened.
In the beginning, the Pakistani authorities defined the projectile as a “supersonic flying object”not knowing its nature, despite the fact that they reported that “it was probably a missile” that was not armed.
They also specified that they had followed the flight path of the object at all times, which traveled more than 124 kilometers of Pakistani airspace.
India and Pakistan have fought two wars and numerous minor conflicts over Kashmir since 1947.
In 2019, both nuclear powers experienced their worst military escalation in decades, when New Delhi claimed to have bombed a camp in Pakistani territory of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in March.
That group claimed responsibility in February 2019 for the attack in Indian Kashmir in which 42 policemen were killed, the worst attack in the region in three decades.
