Cáceres, Málaga and Salamanca are the provinces most affected by the fire
More than thirty fires, of which half progress uncontrollably burning thousands of hectares in their wake, keep the extinction services in check in much of Spain. The provinces of Cáceres, Málaga and Salamanca are the most affected by the flames.
Extremadura is fighting on two fronts. The dawn of this Saturday has been complicated around Monfragüe, where the flames came to penetrate this Friday in the National Park and affected 200 hectares of its biosphere reserve, the land that limits the zone of maximum environmental protection. The evolution of this fire has gone a step further by crossing the old National-V and the A-5 motorway, roads that are cut off at various points. First thing in the morning, the Board reported that “the unfavorable evolution continues.”
Also in Cáceres, the firefighting services are working tirelessly to control the fire caused by lightning last Monday in Las Hurdes, and which affects both Extremadura and the province of Salamanca. It is not the only fire that Castilla y León suffers. The fire has already forced the evacuation of five towns in this autonomous community.
Sierra de Mijas
The situation is also critical in the Malaga province, where more than 3,000 people have already been evacuated. The fire has not given respite to the forestry troops in the Sierra de Mijas during the past morning. The conditions for the extinction tasks are extremely difficult given the orography, the weather conditions and the surface full of pine forests. All these factors caused the flames to spread up to 50 meters per minute this Friday.

The high temperatures due to the heat wave are linked to the chain of fires that affects all of southern Europe. According to experts, the water released by aerial means evaporates before being able to neutralize the flames.
